QCT’s education program, open to students of all ages, is dedicated to providing innovative arts education instruction, high-quality student production work, and mentorship opportunities for our community’s emerging theatre artists.

QCT’s friendly and expert staff instructors ensure the highest level of engagement and challenge for students at every skill level; whether you are a first-timer or a veteran performer, great arts education can inspire confidence, improve creative problem-solving, and exercise collaboration skills unlike any other discipline.

Classes are typically offered in the spring (February-March), summer (June-July) and fall (October-November); special sessions and/or masterclasses are programmed throughout the year on a rolling basis. No prior theatre experience is required unless specified in the class description.

Little Theatre People

BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER! In this special class for our youngest performers, we bring a story to life through creative play. Each week, we read a story together, learn about characters and settings, and create our very own version live on stage. This semester, we’re adding COSTUMES!

QCT Kids Company

THE NEW EVOLUTION OF KIDS COMPANY! Kids Company members use guided improv to re-imagine stories new and old. Students engage their imaginations to invent new characters, new plotlines– even new endings to the week’s chosen story! Every Kids Company semester includes new stories and new opportunities to deepen your child’s connection to the stage. This semester, we are stepping things up with a greater focus on acting and design– including COSTUMES!

Puppet-palooza!

Kids will channel their inner Muppet as they learn the ins and outs of puppetry in this fun, hands-on performance class.

QCT Spooky Stories

Instructor: Brendan Shea
Wednesdays | Oct 26 – Nov 16 | 5:30 – 6:30 PM

Let’s get spooky as we write and perform short (age-appropriate) horror films at QCT! We will use all of the theatrical tricks in the book to delight and frighten our audiences while learning about what it takes to write suspenseful and thrilling plays.

Vicky’s Vampire Workshop: Stage Blood

Instructor: Vicky Vail
Friday | Oct 28 | 5:00 – 6:30 PM

What better way to prepare for Halloween than with BUCKETS OF (fake) BLOOD!!! OK, maybe not literal “buckets,” but we’ll show you how to make your own realistic stage blood out of materials you could find around the house. Don’t worry parents—it’s also easily washable and hypoallergenic! Each student will get to take home some of the final product to put the finishing touches on your ghoulish Halloween shenanigans!

Grades 9-12

Site-Specific Theatre

Some of the most exciting experimental theatre today is “site-specific,” meaning it is performed in spaces outside of the traditional theatre. In this class, we will devise original performance pieces that are inspired by the hidden nooks and crannies of the QCT building.

Advanced Acting Workshop

Come join us for a special Saturday afternoon class designed for high school performers with a busy schedule! This workshop will focus on acting fundamentals and scene work, perfect for students of every skill level.

Dramaturgy Club: The 2023 QCT Season

Dramaturgy Club is back with a deep dive into QCT’s milestone 2023 season. Each week, we will read and discuss one of the plays or musicals to be produced in the upcoming season– digging into the content, historical context, and thematic connections of each. Whether you plan to audition, work backstage or enjoy these productions from the audience, this class will give you a rich new perspective.
