classes & Workshops

QCT’s education program, open to students of all ages, is dedicated to providing innovative arts education instruction, high-quality student production work, and mentorship opportunities for our community’s emerging theatre artists.

QCT’s friendly and expert staff instructors ensure the highest level of engagement and challenge for students at every skill level; whether you are a first-timer or a veteran performer, great arts education can inspire confidence, improve creative problem-solving, and exercise collaboration skills, unlike any other discipline.

Classes are typically offered in the spring (February-March), summer (June-July), and fall (October-November); special sessions, workshops, and/or masterclasses are programmed throughout the year on a rolling basis. No prior theatre experience is required unless specified in the class description. All classes and workshops, unless otherwise noted, will take place in the QCT Lab Theatre. Enter through the Stage Door on Kentucky Street.

Upcoming Classes & Workshops

Creative play at its finest! Come join us as we read a new story every week, select characters, and act out our own version.

Our popular creative play class teaches our youngest QCT all-stars how to create a character, work together, and use their imagination to bring a selection of children’s stories to life on stage.

Now that you’ve seen Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Musical, let’s get even WIMPIER! Students will create original, unofficial spin-offs of the Wimpyverse and perform them for friends and family at our final class session.

Take on the Olympians (just like Percy) in a hilarious theatrical mash-up of Greek myths. Students will practice roles in short comedic plays and perform them for friends and family on the last day of class.

This six-week class, taught by novelist and longtime QCT performer Jerilyn Dufresne, will teach students to develop a character so vivid that when they perform their work in the last class, everyone in the room will sit up and take notice. Students will grow as writers and as performers through a unique combination of writing exercises, character development, and monologue work. This special six-week course will culminate in a performance for friends and family.

This class introduces curious adults to the discipline of Dramaturgy, the study of dramatic structure. The group will then take a deep dive into selected plays from the 2026 season, analyzing the composition and content of the work in preparation for production. Each participant will contribute to a dramaturgy project for public display in the 2026 season.
