classes & Workshops

QCT’s education program, open to students of all ages, is dedicated to providing innovative arts education instruction, high-quality student production work, and mentorship opportunities for our community’s emerging theatre artists.
QCT’s friendly and expert staff instructors ensure the highest level of engagement and challenge for students at every skill level; whether you are a first-timer or a veteran performer, great arts education can inspire confidence, improve creative problem-solving, and exercise collaboration skills, unlike any other discipline.
Classes are typically offered in the spring (February-March), summer (June-July), and fall (October-November); special sessions, workshops, and/or masterclasses are programmed throughout the year on a rolling basis. No prior theatre experience is required unless specified in the class description. All classes and workshops, unless otherwise noted, will take place in the QCT Lab Theatre. Enter through the Stage Door on Kentucky Street.

Our popular creative play class teaches our youngest QCT all-stars how to create a character, work together, and use their imagination to bring a selection of children’s stories to life on stage.

DIARY OF A WIMPY KID: EVEN WIMPIER
Grades 3-5

Now that you’ve seen Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Musical, let’s get even WIMPIER! Students will create original, unofficial spin-offs of the Wimpyverse and perform them for friends and family at our final class session.

INTRO TO ACTING:
GREEK MYTH-O-MANIA
Grades 6–8

Take on the Olympians (just like Percy) in a hilarious theatrical mash-up of Greek myths. Students will practice roles in short comedic plays and perform them for friends and family on the last day of class.

WRITING CLUB: CREATING VIVID CHARACTERS
Grades 7-12
October 22 – November 26
Wednesdays | 5:00 – 6:30 pm
This six-week class, taught by novelist and longtime QCT performer Jerilyn Dufresne, will teach students to develop a character so vivid that when they perform their work in the last class, everyone in the room will sit up and take notice. Students will grow as writers and as performers through a unique combination of writing exercises, character development, and monologue work. This special six-week course will culminate in a performance for friends and family.

DRAMATURGY CLUB
Adults (18+)
November 7 – December 5
Fridays | 6:00 – 8:00 pm
Tuition | $75
This class introduces curious adults to the discipline of Dramaturgy, the study of dramatic structure. The group will then take a deep dive into selected plays from the 2026 season, analyzing the composition and content of the work in preparation for production. Each participant will contribute to a dramaturgy project for public display in the 2026 season.

QCT IMPROV CLUB

Our popular FREE Friday night Improv Club is back! This is a casual, low-stakes, drop-in event where we learn improv comedy games, play those games together, and laugh (like, A LOT). No experience, materials, or registration is necessary– just show up ready to try something new, meet some cool people, and exercise that funny bone. Even if you’re on the fence about getting on stage, come by and watch us play (trust us, you’ll want to jump in). Bring a friend! Improv Club is for adults 18 and up and meets in the Lab Theatre, enter through the Stage Door on Kentucky Street. Upcoming dates listed below!

THE ACT II PLAYERS
The ACT II Players is a vibrant group of adults 18+ who share a passion for reader’s theatre and delight in entertaining their peers. The group performs at local senior care facilities.
