Adapted from Harling’s own experiences, STEEL MAGNOLIAS is a witty, heartfelt classic centered on the enduring bonds of six women who gather at Truvy’s hair salon during pivotal moments in their lives. Filled with humor, tenderness, and resilience, the play celebrates friendship, community, and the strength found in shared experience.

QCT’s production of STEEL MAGNOLIAS is anchored by a dynamic ensemble of six women, including Char Cearlock as Shelby, Crystal Perry as M’Lynn, Sara Courtney as Annelle, Susan Scholz as Clairee, Melinda Higgins as Truvy, and Vicki Dempsey as Ouiser. Valerie Hernandez serves as director of the production, with Jen Shackleton as Stage Manager.

“Combining the intimacy of the Black Box space and the very personal proximity of performing in-the-round, this production of STEEL MAGNOLIAS brings the audience right into Truvy’s salon, going on and going through ups and downs, sweetness, hilarity, sorrow, and hope, making them part of this wonderful circle of friends,” says Director Valerie Hernandez. “If you’re a fan of the 1980s classic film, having seen it doesn’t lessen the impact of the play. The amazing actresses in this company step out of the long shadows cast by the movie’s stars and make the roles their own, surprising and endearing the audience to these well-loved, well-known characters all over again. A true ensemble show that highlights the strength women find and cultivate in one another, STEEL MAGNOLIAS is for the Shelbys and the Steves and everyone in between! Bring your tissues and your friends, you don’t want to miss this show!”

STEEL MAGNOLIAS is the first show in QCT’s new Black Box Series. Series ticket holders may begin reserving seats now. Tickets go on sale to the public on February 17 at 1QCT.org.
