Meet the cast of The Music Man!

Each week, we’ll share another group of members from Quincy Community Theatre’s upcoming production of The Music Man! To learn more about the production, click here. Performance dates July 20-23 & 27-30. Tickets on sale beginning June 26.

Mark Hespen – “Harold Hill”

Ladies and Gentlemen, you’ve heard him growl as the Beast in Beauty and the Beast and charm the courtroom as Billy Flynn in Chicago. This summer Mark is excited to return on-stage finding trouble in River City.  You recognize his voice as the current co-host of Mornings with Mark and Sam on 97.9 KICK-FM. This past February, Mark traveled to Phoenix AZ to announce the live Fanduel Super Bowl Commercial, The Kick of Destiny. Mark is the luckiest man in Quincy to be married to the incomparable, Lindsey Stroot, and thrilled to share the stage with his two amazing stepchildren Ruby and Beck.

Megan Peters – “Marian Paroo”

Megan is thrilled to be part of this fun cast and hopes you enjoy the show! She was last seen on the QCT stage as Velma Kelly in the production of Chicago. When she’s not at rehearsal, she’s a busy and proud mama raising 4 wonderful kids with her husband Dominic. She’s a marketing coordinator at Klingner & Associates and a singer & oboist in the local band, Gypsy Tango Foxtrot. She loves spending time with family, watching her kids thrive in their activities, keeping her life as organized as possible, and she’s acutely aware that she cannot function without her morning coffee.

Jeremy Kurfman – “Marcellus Washburn”

Jeremy was last seen on the HLGU stage as Thomas Colleymore in The Play That Goes Wrong, and at QCT as Almanzo Wilder in Little House on the Prairie. He loves cooking, Dungeons and Dragons, and his friends and family (in that order).

Bill Stalder – “Mayor George Shinn”

Bill has been married for nearly 30 years to Brenda, an award-winning teacher at QHS. They have three awesome offspring, JD (28), Meg (24), and Quinn (14). You may have seen Bill die on stage in the 2022 production of Calendar Girls (pardon his frazology). His favorite role was King Arthur in QCT’s Spamalot (Quilta). Bill has been involved at QCT for years and was the recipient of the theatre’s 2018 Enid Ireland award. He has worked at Adams Electric for 20 years and is delighted to be spending the summer in River City with this talented cast and crew.

Doris Ann Malacarne – “Eulalie Shinn”

Doris is thrilled to be a part of this awesome cast. Last seen onstage in Curious Incident and Good People (QUILTA Award), she is a longtime volunteer at the theatre, as well as other community endeavors.  She enjoys lunching, gardening, keeping up with the “grands”, and spoiling her felines Khamir and Guinness. Motto:  Work hard, play hard, stay curious!

Susan Disselhorst – “Mrs. Paroo”

Like QCT, Susan Disselhorst is also sponsored by Gardner Denver, where she works as an AR Analyst.  She is a proud mother and grandmother who enjoys cooking, sewing, DIY projects, and playing with her 2 dogs.  She has been on-stage, served backstage as crew, taken classes, and ushered.  So many ways to be a part of QCT!  

Beck Griffard – “Wintrhop Paroo”

Beck is a recent 5th-grade graduate from Denman Elementary heading to Quincy Junior High this fall. He finished his elementary days as one of their fastest runners taking first place in the 40-yard dash during their annual field day competition. Beck is a swimmer on the Sheridan Swim Team and loves collecting, building, and displaying Lego sets.  Along with his great sense of humor, personality, and charm, Beck is making his debut on Quincy Community Theatre’s stage this summer. He is joined by his sweet sister, Ruby, and a very talented stepdad, Mark. And that is something special.

Patrick Hedges – “Jacey Squires”

Patrick is in his 2nd production at QCT. When he is not performing on stage he can be found working as a case manager for MTBH, working at his second job at the Mark Twain Riverboat in Hannibal, or enjoying his time with his family.  He is excited to be able to participate in The Music Man as this marks the 2nd time he has been involved in this musical with his first ever musical being in 1993 as “Winthrop” in Hannibal Community Theatre’s production.

David Samuels – “Ewart Dunlop”

David is a Business Development Manager for Dot Foods. David married Emily Dozier on the QCT stage in 2014 in his favorite role ever, and together have four pets (meow, meow, woof, meow). This will be David’s seventeenth QCT show since 2012 (twelfth on-stage), most recently serving in the crew for Mame. The Troy, Michigan native enjoys serving QCT, playing ultimate, watching Detroit Lions and MSU Spartans, and playing trivia.

Spencer Boren – “Oliver Hix”

Spencer grew up in Pittsfield, where he performed in numerous local productions. He is thrilled to be making his QCT debut, and has loved being part of the show’s quartet. He teaches history at Pittsfield High School. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, reading, and hanging out with his wife Kayla and their children, Seth, Emmett, and Lena.

Mike Drew – “Olin Britt”

Mike has been involved in numerous QCT productions over the years including this same role in 2001. Most recently he shared the stage with daughter Zoe in Legally Blonde. Mike is also father to Zachary and Elizabeth and is the director for the Area Agency on Aging based in Quincy. In his free time he enjoys singing, playing golf, and fishing.

Jason Lewton – “Charlie Cowell”

Jason is making his eighth appearance on the QCT stage, most recently having appeared in CALENDAR GIRLS. By day, he is the assistant news director at WGEM. In his spare time, he enjoys tending to his patio garden and playing with his Australian shepherd-velociraptor mix, Bogie, and his kitties, Mick and Keef.

Andrew Krus – “Tommy Djilas”

Andrew is currently enrolled at John Wood Community College and is perusing an associate’s degree in Fire Science. He fell in love with acting his senior year and wants to continue growing as an actor.

Randy Wolfmeyer – “Constable Locke”

Randy loves volunteering at QCT with his wife, Gretchen, & kids, Thalia and Conall. Most recently, he appeared on QCT’s stage in FLORA & ULYSSES.

Evelyn Ginos – “Amaryllis”

Evelyn is so excited to be back on stage. Her previous productions included LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE and DISNEY’S MOANA, JR. When not in rehearsal this summer, you’ll find her in the dance studio or at the pool!

Zoey Griffin – “Zaneeta Shinn”

Zoey is thrilled to be back on the QCT stage since her last appearance in LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE (Mrs. Brewster)! She was also seen in last summers performance of LEGALLY BLONDE (Pilar). Zoey is an elementary educator who currently works through Chaddock. In her free time she enjoys spending time with loved ones, making music, and being outdoors!

Abby Twaddle – “Gracie Shinn”

Abby will be in the 8th grade at QJHS and enjoys playing soccer, drawing, acting, and spending time with her family and friends. She was recently seen in DISNEY’S MOANA, JR. (Ocean Ensemble) and LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE (Carrie Ingalls). She is very excited to share this experience with her older sister, Caleigh, and to make a lot of fun memories with this cast.

Laura Nash – “Ethel Toffelmier”

Laura is a vocalist, instrumentalist, songwriter, and music teacher from Quincy, IL. She currently teaches K-5 Elementary Music in the Hannibal School District, and has her own voice and piano studio on the side. For fun, she enjoys playing live music at local events, playing in the worship team at her church, and taking evening walks with her husband and dog. Laura has been in previous productions, such as playing the role of Aunt March in LITTLE WOMEN, but she is making her debut at the Quincy Community Theatre!

Mindy Holthaus – “Alma Hix”

Mindy is excited to be on stage for QCT’s 100th year! She’s even more excited to have three generations of her family in the show together! She fell in love with the stage at QCLT in 1988 and was last seen as Paulette in LEGALLY BLONDE. She’s married to Nathan and they have 5 children. 

Marci Keller – “Maud Dunlop”

Marci has been seen many times on the QCT stage, but is thrilled to share the stage with her oldest son Thomas (teen townsperson) for the first time. Her favorite QCT roles include: Marian (THE MUSIC MAN), Narrator (JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT), Mary Magdalene (JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR), Lady of the Lake (SPAMALOT), and Rona (SPELLING BEE).

Catey Hellige – “Mrs. Squires”

Catey is the wife of Dan and mom to Aurora. She works at First Bankers Trust as a teller. She was last seen on stage in JOSEPH in 2011 . When she’s not at the theatre, she’s either with her Girl Scouts or hanging with her family and 3 kitties. She would like to thank Artistic Director Brandon Thomsen for this amazing opportunity and her family for their love and support!

Glenn Boettger – Ensemble

Glenn has appeared on the QCT stage in PHANTOM and BYE BYE BIRDIE and was “heard, but not seen” as the voice of the priest in GOOD PEOPLE. He is recently retired (Hollister-Whitney) and is grateful for the opportunity to use some of the free time he now has available to be part of this production.

Evan Conover – Ensemble

Evan is a student at Quincy University and finished his junior year and will be entering his last year finishing his voice performance degree. Evan is excited to be a part of this show after being in his first QCT show LEGALLY BLONDE (Harvard Student) in 2022. I’m currently working at Broadway Hy-Vee in the frozen and dairy department part-time. In my free time, he loves to play video games, take walks, watch movies, and go for a drive and get pictures of the sunset.

Quinton Metcalf – Ensemble

Quinton has returned! After a departure from the University of Illinois & Olive Garden, the pandemic ventured this snazzy jeweler to Saint Louis at the Hilton Frontenac. Metcalf was last seen on QCT’s stage during two previous summer musicals (HELLO, DOLLY!) & (SISTER ACT). He is thankful for the bond with his nun & waiter ensemble families.

Dominic Regner – Ensemble

Dominic is a graduate from Illinois State University with a bachelors in Vocal Performance. He has been in recent productions at QCT including, SPAMALOT, MARY POPPINS, BYE BYE BIRDIE, and BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. He is also a traveler who loves to explore and hike to different villages and towns.

Barrett Whitfield – Ensemble

Barrett is excited to be back on the QCT stage. Last seen in LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRARIE, Barrett enjoys all things theater. When not in rehearsal you can find him enjoying his summer break by enjoying nature, hanging out with friends, or trying to go to as many concerts as possible.

Max Miller – Ensemble

Max is 17-years-old and has been in multiple QCT shows in the past. Max is the third child of four. He was a varsity team captain for the QHS wrestling team. He has been playing bass for 10 years and has been in orchestra, jazz band, and show band. Most recently he played the role of Link Larkin in QHS’ production of HAIRSPRAY. Max enjoys lifting, exploring, and singing in his band. Max is planning on becoming a wilderness firefighter and making a difference.

Joey Engelmeyer – Ensemble

Joey is a senior at QHS. He started his theater career with the QHS rendition of THE MUSIC MAN nine years ago. Since that time, he has been in 11 play/musicals at QCT. Joey keeps busy with anything musical at the QHS. From marching band, to show choir, to jazz band, to madrigal choir, he is a music nerd. Is it any wonder he wants to become a music teacher?!

Harrison Schmidt – Ensemble

Harrison is thrilled to be a part of the amazing cast and crew of THE MUSIC MAN! A recent graduate of QHS, Harrison is continuing his education in the fall at QU. In his free time he enjoys playing music and playing games with his friends and family. 

Gavin Ginos – Ensemble

Gavin, former shape-shifter, demigod of the wind and sea is excited to be a part of THE MUSIC MAN. You’ve most recently seen him in DISNEY’S MOANA, JR. as Maui as well as several other student theatre and main stage shows. When not at the theatre he keeps busy with the QHS drumline. 

Thomas Keller – Ensemble

Thomas is excited to perform in his first QCT musical. He was last seen in QCT’s student theatre production of THE WITCHES and worked crew for QHS’s productions of HAIRSPRAY, LITTLE WOMEN, and LIZZY BORDEN. He is a QHS sophomore involved in Electric Blue Show Choir, marching band, jazz band, theatre guild, and soccer. 

William Zanger – Ensemble

William is 10-years-old. THE MUSIC MAN is his first show at Quincy Community Theater. He caught the theater bug at QCT’s Basic Training 2022. 

Blake Myers – Ensemble

Blake is from Quincy and will be going into 6th grade this year. Blake plays basketball and is on the Sheridan Swim Team. He has 4 dogs that he loves to play fetch with. He enjoys fishing with his dad any chance they get. This will be Blake’s first performance at QCT.
