Head of Education/Director of Student Theatre Update
Dear QCT Community,
It is with sadness and gratitude that I announce that Brendan Shea, QCT’s Head of Education and Director of Student Theatre, will be departing Quincy Community Theatre effective August 15, 2023. Over the last three years, Brendan has made a lasting impression in the lives of so many children and young adults, inspiring a passion for performing arts through student theatre productions, classes at QCT, and workshops at area schools. He has also been committed to providing opportunities for adult students, including playwriting, dramaturgy, and the improv club. Starting just three months before the start of the pandemic, his flexibility and adaptability have been critical to the program’s ongoing success. Brendan was instrumental in shifting our educational programming to virtual. As we transitioned back, he reignited the spark for in-person learning. Brendan’s positivity and support have made a lasting impression on me personally, and he will no doubt be leaving a permanent legacy in our education department.
Soon, we will begin the search for Brendan’s replacement. Additionally, we will be searching for a guest director to help bring the epic journey in The Hobbit to life. We are committed to finding the right candidate who can help us perpetuate quality theatre entertainment and education in the performing arts.
We cannot thank Brendan enough for the dedication, passion, and enthusiasm he has given our organization. He will be greatly missed by our staff, board, volunteers, and most importantly, our students. We wish him all the best as he moves closer to his family.
