High Points with Hill: Coming Full Circle

Seven years ago, I walked into this building for my first day at a new job. At that point, I knew very little about the Oakley-Lindsay Center, except that it housed the magic of Quincy Community Theatre. I grew up in Pittsfield, and for most of my childhood, my family had season tickets to QCT. It always felt like a treat to come into the big city to see the shows. I was in awe of what happened on the QCT stage, which sparked a love of the arts. I was fortunate to participate on stage and backstage at the intermittent Pike Theatre Guild and Pittsfield High School, but unfortunately, taking classes or participating in the student theatre in Quincy was (understandably) too far to travel for my working parents.

On that day seven years ago, I was not coming to work for the theatre but instead for Arts Quincy, located upstairs in the Oakley-Lindsay Center. My familiarity with QCT led me to Arts Quincy, and I soon found a passion for many of the arts groups in the area.

Three weeks ago, that day came full circle for me. I was once again walking into a building I revered, but this time it was for the organization I fell in love with as a child, Quincy Community Theatre.

The last few weeks have been an incredible whirlwind. It takes a village, and I am so grateful for Dan, Sara, the fantastic staff, and the rest of the QCT family, who have stepped in without hesitation when I’ve had questions or asked for help. This environment where everyone can find their place is why QCT is special. Theatre has the remarkable ability to bring people together and foster deep connections. As we come out of the isolation of the pandemic, I think this is something we are all seeking.

Thank you for welcoming me so warmly. I can’t wait to see what we can achieve together.
