Meet the Cast of COME FROM AWAY!

Quincy Community Theatre (QCT) proudly announces the cast of its upcoming production, COME FROM AWAY, the internationally acclaimed Broadway musical that tells the remarkable true story of 7,000 airline passengers stranded in Gander, Newfoundland, on September 11, 2001, and the small town that welcomed them. Performances are April 17-19 & 23-26.

Nominated for seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical, COME FROM AWAY has become a global sensation for its powerful storytelling and soaring, folk-inspired score. With a fast-paced, cinematic structure, the musical shines a light on humanity at its best, capturing the compassion, generosity, and unexpected connections that emerged during one of the most challenging moments in modern history—while delivering a theatrical experience that is both deeply moving and unexpectedly uplifting.

In this ensemble-driven production, the actors portray multiple roles, seamlessly shifting between stranded passengers and the residents of Gander. Through music, movement, and storytelling, the cast brings to life dozens of real people whose lives intersected in extraordinary ways over five unforgettable days.

The passengers guiding us through the story include Tammi Zumwalt, Olivia Jones, Cassie Schoene, Gretchen Wolfmeyer, Ruth Kummerow, Kristen Housten, Jason Lewton, Patrick Regner, David Samuels, Sjon Jonez, Cory Combs, and Emmett Frohn.

“COME FROM AWAY is a powerful community story with one of the best contemporary musical scores to grace a Broadway stage in the last decade, “said Ethan Nienaber, director. “After receiving special early access to this show, we are thrilled to be producing the regional debut of this touching true story about the small Newfoundland town of Gander that so bravely came together when their population doubled with stranded airline refugees following the 9/11 terrorist attacks. This brilliant cast and creative team have already begun to pour their hearts into this joyful story of compassion that reminds us to love our neighbors both near and far. If you don’t know this musical yet, get ready to fall in love with your new favorite show!”

The production team for COME FROM AWAY includes Ethan Nienaber as Director, Kristie Bradshaw as Stage Manager, Casey Mercurio asCostume Designer, Megan Eaton as Lighting Designer, and Anthony Freitas as Scenic Designer.

To celebrate the opening of COME FROM AWAY, QCT will host a Screech-In at The Ratskeller on Tuesday, March 25, from 6:00-8:00 pm as part of its annual Spring Social. A Screech-In is a lively Newfoundland tradition in which “come from aways” are officially welcomed by taking a shot of Screech (a traditional rum) and kissing a codfish. In the spirit of the show’s setting, this festive event will bring a taste of Newfoundland to our community while raising a glass to connection, hospitality, and the power of coming together. Additional details will be announced soon.
