QCT Announces First Play Reading of 2026

Quincy Community Theatre (QCT) is pleased to announce a new programming initiative in 2026, offering audience and volunteers the chance to experience three additional plays. Each reading will feature script-in-hand performers with no sets, costumes, or props. It gives audiences the chance to experience contemporary and new works.
On January 23, QCT will present MIDDLETOWN by Will Eno. MIDDLETOWN is a deeply moving and funny play exploring the universe of a small American town. As a friendship develops between longtime resident John Dodge and new arrival Mary Swanson, the lives of the inhabitants of Middletown intersect in strange and poignant ways in a journey that takes them from the local library to outer space and points between. MIDDLETOWN is in response to the classic OUR TOWN.
Actors participating in the reading are Shobi Martin, Jessica Snider, Nicole Herrington, Tim Hake, Olivia Jones, Michele McCormack, Alta King, Rachel Brown, and Lily Vajgrt. Quinton Metcalf will direct.
This program is free to attend. Seating is limited, and reservations are strongly encouraged.
Other titles that are a part of this program include JOHN PROCTOR IS THE VILLAIN, in response to THE CRUCIBLE, on June 26, and A DOLL’S HOUSE PART 2, in response to A DOLL’S HOUSE, on October 9. These selections are made to challenge our perception of how classics shape and inform our current lives and culture. QCT hopes to further the conversation about the importance of classics as well as celebrate new voices in American theatre with this series.
All titles feature mature content and language and are recommended for adults only.
