You might be a theatre person if…

“Theatre person.” Who falls into that category? As self-proclaimed theatre people, we wear the term proudly. But for those who don’t consider themselves theatre people, it can make getting involved at QCT feel a little intimidating. How does one become a theatre person? Well, luckily for you, I’ve made my own very conclusive list of what makes a theatre person. If one or more of these applies to you, you might be a theatre person.
You might be a theatre person if…
- You’ve ever been an actor, crew member, or worked on a production at QCT
- You’ve ever been an actor, crew member, or worked on a production somewhere else
- Your Spotify “Wrapped” told you that you had a “Theatrical West End Broadway Season” this year (guilty… I may have listened to the Newsies soundtrack on repeat a lot this summer…)
- Your social media feed has been filled with people doing the “What Is This Feeling” dance from the Wicked movie
- You really enjoyed the Wicked movie
- You purchased merchandise connected to the Wicked movie (…I really liked it, ok?)
- You frequently come to shows at QCT
- You are interested in getting involved at QCT
- You have a strong opinion about Jeremy Jordan, Christian Borle, or Jonathan Groff
- You are deeply passionate about theatre, QCT, or the value of arts education
All jokes aside, the wonderful thing about community theatre is that we are here for everyone, self-proclaimed theatre people or not. There is no pre-requisite for entry. Here at QCT, it takes a community. And don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful for our theatre people. I’m constantly inspired by their passion and commitment to the organization. They make up our village, and we couldn’t do it without them.
But every theatre person started as a non-theatre person. Whether here or somewhere else, they got involved. They walked through the door for the first time and took a chance. It is an incredible act of bravery to try something new and walk into a room where you may not know anyone.
As we start a new season in 2025, I invite you to be brave at QCT. Embrace your inner theatre person and give it a chance. Audition for a show, sign up to usher, or come see a show for the first time. We invite you to give it a try. You might just find your (theatre) people.
