Artistic Director Update

Dear QCT Community,
With deep respect and a heavy heart, I announce that QCT’s Artistic Director Brandon Thomsen will depart Quincy Community Theatre on November 8, 2024. It is a bittersweet moment as we bid farewell to a remarkable colleague and dear friend. It is hard to fully capture Brandon’s impact on QCT during his 18-year tenure. Serving first as the Director of Education and then as Artistic Director, his commitment to excellence has been evident in every area. He has stood as a model of professionalism and artistic integrity, and QCT is stronger because of his dedication to the organization.
Brandon wanted to share the following with the QCT community: “As I reflect on the last 18 years of my life, my eyes fill with tears of gratitude. My relationships with QCT vocal directors, choreographers, stage managers, actors, designers, crew, teachers, students, volunteers, staff, board members, and patrons have shaped who I am as a person and artist. Through these collaborations, I have learned about the craft of theatre, but more importantly, I have learned some of the most significant lessons of my life. Thank you to this community for your faith in me. I love this organization dearly. I am so very grateful.”
Brandon has left an indelible mark on so many individuals, shaping our values and inspiring us to do better. He has consistently fostered a sense of community and camaraderie for all who come into contact with QCT. Through his devotion, he has sparked the joy of live theatre in countless individuals: patrons, volunteers, and students. His legacy at QCT will continue to inspire us to strive for excellence, and he will always be welcomed back to our artistic home.
To clarify, this was not our intention at the start of Brandon’s sabbatical. But thanks to Brandon’s support of QCT and our evolution during the last few months, I feel confident in our ability to successfully navigate this transition. The search for a new Artistic Director will begin in due time, and we are committed to finding the right candidate to help us perpetuate quality theatre entertainment and education in the performing arts.
To honor Brandon, we invite our community to a Farewell Reception on October 30, from 5-7 pm at Quincy Community Theatre. We cannot thank him enough for the dedication, passion, and enthusiasm he has brought to QCT. His contributions have been invaluable, and he will be greatly missed by our staff, board, patrons, and, most importantly, our volunteers. We wish him nothing but the best in his next chapter.
Sincerely,
Burgundy Hill
Executive Director
