High Points with Hill: Giving Thanks
Believe it or not, Thanksgiving is less than three weeks away, and it feels like the end of the year is coming in full force. As this season of giving thanks is upon us, I am grateful for this community. We rely on many generous people who share their time, talents, and treasure to bring the impossible to life. Because of people like you: our devoted patrons, volunteers, and donors, we can do the work we love and create something beautiful to share with the community.
Since we are in the middle of our year-end fundraising campaign, I wanted to highlight some of the lesser-known ways that we rely on donors:
- Because we do not have a maintenance staff, cleaning and upkeep on our facility is up to our small staff. A generous donor set up a cleaning service to come into the auditorium before each show to help us maintain the space and prepare it for an audience.
- Thanks to another generous donor, we can bring in an American Sign Language interpreter a couple of times a year to make shows like Legally Blonde and Little House on the Prairie more accessible.
- Another couple of devoted donors frequently helps us with props for shows. They will track things down and purchase items out of pocket to help ease our expenses.
There are countless others who so generously fill these needs as they come up. One way you can help is through our Light the Way Annual Fund Drive. These donations help fill in our income between shows for operational costs and help us with capital improvements throughout the year. This year, for example, we’ve been doing significant maintenance to our rigging and fly-rail system and adding new LED lights to our stage lighting.
