On July 1st, 2014 I began as Quincy Community Theatre’s first Executive Director and Brandon Thomsen was named its first full time Artistic Director. In some respects this is a dramatic change in the operation of this wonderful theatre; in some respects it is merely a way to take what we have built and to fortify it. I am very fortunate to work with skillful and dedicated staff and volunteers. The level of participation by the theatre patrons and business sponsors are examples of the significance live theatre has in this community. I want to thank the Board of Directors for making a bold move to split the Managing/Artistic Director position. I have appreciated the assistance of the past Managing Artistic Directors as we adjust to change while moving forward at the same time. One of my favorite song lyrics, besides Bob Seger’s song from which I stole the title, is from David Bowie’s ” Changes”
I watch the ripples change their size
But never leave the stream
Of warm impermanence and
So the days float through my eyes
But still the days seem the same.
This is a major change in Quincy Community Theatre’s history but hopefully,as the song infers, a mere ripple in that ever moving stream.
