Ushers, Scanners, and Greeters needed for:
A Christmas Carol: December 4-7 & 11-14

Ushers

Purpose: to serve as an ambassador for the theatre by greeting and seating patrons

Responsibilities: be trained by the house manager; arrive 40 minutes before curtain time; report to the office for your usher ribbon and to check for your assigned area; show patrons to their seats up until curtain time.

Scanners

Purpose: to check for and scan tickets as patrons enter the theatre

Responsibilities: be trained by the house manager; arrive 40 minutes before curtain time; report to the office for your name tag; scan the bar code on each individual ticket.

Box Officers

Purpose: to assist patrons with reservations and sell tickets before a performance

Qualifications: must be trained by the Box Office staff prior to the evening’s performance.

Responsibilities:  arrive 75 minutes before curtain time; report to the office for your name tag; use the ProVenue ticketing system to maintain reservations and sell tickets to that day’s performance.

Greeters

Purpose: to serve as an ambassador for the theatre by greeting patrons as they enter the building

Responsibilities: arrive approximately one hour before curtain time; report to the office for your name tag; greet patrons as they enter the theatre and offer assistance if necessary.

Stage Managers

Qualifications: ability to call a production once the show is ready to open; be the first to arrive and the last to leave the theatre during rehearsals and shows; worked as a crew member on a previous show

Responsibilities: read the show and attend all rehearsals; assist the Director in rehearsals with actor preparation; keep a calendar of any rehearsals that cast or crew must miss; mark cues for all segments of the production (lights, sounds, special effects, scene changes, etc.); check all props with prop chair for production; note blocking and notes from Director; notify cast & crew with any instructions from the Director; make and maintain a performance sign-in sheet for cast & crew; be responsible for stage maintenance during productions; time dress rehearsals; make sure all aspects are ready for the show to open before the house opens (sound checks, pre-set, & props, the house opens 30 minutes before curtain time); working with Technical Director assign crew personnel jobs during production; call the show; secure the building following rehearsals and performances (check that lights are off and check green room for cleanliness); be present at show strike; gather scripts and turn into office

Performers

Actors are the principle instruments through which the Director speaks and interprets the Playwrights thoughts.

Responsibilities: be prepared for all rehearsals; have lines & cues memorized; be responsible for character development; note all instructions from Director; be responsible for all of your props and costumes (make sure your props are set in the right area); if you must be absent or late for a rehearsal, inform the stage manager; if an emergency arises during a performance, alert the stage manager immediately if you must leave; sign in for each performance; turn in all scripts, props, & costumes following the run of the show; help with the show strike

Properties (Show Props)

Qualifications: ability to meet with Director to plan and gather props for the production; ability to attend Tech rehearsals & performances

Responsibilities: make a list of needed props with the Director; be aware of deadlines to have props ready; be responsible for all props while in QCT possession; work with stage manager and actors on prop settings for production; make sure all props are set before house opens for show (30 minutes before curtain time); clean up after each show and get props ready for next show; at the end of the show run, be responsible for striking props and putting them away

Make-up/Hair/Costumes

Qualifications: ability to make-up actors for the run of the show, do hair, or help with costumes

Responsibilities: help actors before performances with make-up, hair, or costumes as needed; help clean-up make-up areas during show run and after performances; assist costume designer prior to show; help with strike by cleaning up make-up, dressing room, & costumes

Set Construction

Qualifications: availability to THE TECHNICAL DIRECTOR for set construction; basic carpentry or woodworking skills; ability to use basic hand and/or power tools (this also includes set painting)

Responsibilities: assist THE TECHNICAL DIRECTOR in all phases of set construction, including painting and strike

Lights

Qualifications: working knowledge of the light control board; knowledge of production; ability to work all technical rehearsals & performances; ability to assist THE TECHNICAL DIRECTOR in light design by hanging and focusing lights prior to technical rehearsal; watch a rehearsal before technical week to get an idea of the show content

Responsibilities: arrive early for pre-show lighting set-up, run light board during all rehearsals and productions

Sound

Qualifications: working knowledge of the sound control board and the audio vault (digital storage system); knowledge of production; ability to attend all technical rehearsals & performances; ability to assist THE TECHNICAL DIRECTOR in sound design; watch a rehearsal before technical week to get an idea of the show content

Responsibilities: help Technical Director set up microphones & monitors etc. prior to technical rehearsal; arrive early for pre-show sound checks; do a mic check with actors before house opens (which is 30 minutes before curtain time); run sound board during all rehearsals & productions
