Join THE BIG CLEAN this August!
Quincy Community Theatre invites the community to help with its biggest volunteer opportunity of the year––THE BIG CLEAN on Saturday, August 17. RSVP online.
For the first time, THE BIG CLEAN and picnic will be held at QCT’s Deep Storage Costume and Prop Shop at 825 Front Street in Quincy. The event will be split into two shifts from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Lunch will be served from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Main dish, chips, and table service will be provided; participants are encouraged to bring non-perishable snacks to share.
All ages are welcome at this family-friendly event. Volunteers will help in two main areas – costumes or furniture and props. Teams will work on tasks including sorting and organizing costumes and accessories, moving furniture and props, and light cleaning.
“QCT has around 10,000 costume pieces in stock. Getting our storage space organized will assist the guest costumers we hire for our productions as well as anyone who wishes to rent pieces from our collection,” shared QCT’s Costume Shop Manager, Susan Scholz. “Volunteers will help sort, hang, and organize costumes.”
“Many of our large set pieces and props are used multiple times, however, our time between shows doesn’t always allow us to organize and make room for new pieces,” said QCT’s Technical Director, Lorne Kelley. “Volunteers who are able to lift and move heavier objects will provide invaluable help as we make the space more organized and functional.”
Volunteers are encouraged to dress in comfortable work clothes and wear closed-toe shoes.
Not only is this an excellent opportunity to acquire volunteer hours for service organizations and/or earn punches towards free tickets, but it is also a great way for volunteers to meet QCT Staff, Board Members, performers, and other volunteers.
The event will be held rain or shine. Volunteers are not required to work a specific time or number of hours. Volunteers are asked, however, to RSVP for task and meal planning.
RSVP online; for more information, visit 1qct.org or call the QCT Box Office at (217) 222-3209.
THE BIG CLEAN is sponsored by The Home Depot Pro Desk, Golden Bridges, Refreshment Services Pepsi, and Republic Services. Sponsorship opportunities are still available. Businesses and individuals are encouraged to contact QCT’s Executive Director, Sara Reuschel, at Sara.Reuschel@1qct.org for more sponsorship details.
